Treat Your Palate To The Wild West

Lone Spur Grill and Bar (952) 540-0181
11032 Cedar Lake Road, Minnetonka, MN

Restaurants are in the hospitality business. And there are few states that represent hospitality better than Texas. This is the philosophy that infuses every meal and all the hired hands at the Lone Spur Grill in Minnetonka. Everyone is treated like they are a guest in the manager’s home.

Ali Mishkee, General Manager at Lone Spur, told me that Lone Spur has developed a totally unique selection based on the flavors of the Tex-Mex region. One of the most exciting items on the menu is the choice of three different chilis. The first, based on their brisket, is mild but flavorful. The second is a chicken chili with a little more zing. The third is not for the faint of heart. The Bola chili is again based on the brisket but packs a wallop that requires a rugged tongue or a mighty cool beer.

Another treat is the brisket which is smoked for twelve to fourteen hours and uses a spicy rub to spark the beefs full flavor. The fajitas at Lone Spur Grill have won awards and the Buffalo wings are so popular that groups often order them a hundred at a time during the twenty-five cent specials on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday night. However, I have to tell you that whatever you eat at Lone Spur, you have to try the cornbread. It is baked with sour cream and green chilis and is one of the most amazing treats I have ever tasted.

Lone Spur Grill offers an exciting selection of seventeen different Tequilas and uses fresh-frozen strawberries in their famous daiquiris. Lone Spur sells their scratch-made salad dressings by the pint. They also offer interesting desserts including the Lone Spur pie based on an Oreo cookie-crust layered with chocolate, coffee, and vanilla ice cream, and topped with sliced bananas and almonds.

Lone Spur’s appetizer prices run between the homemade tortilla corn chips with salsa for $1.45 and the twelve piece Moppo wings for $9.50. Burgers average around six to seven dollars. Salads are in the same range. The highest priced item on the menu is the full rack of smoked St. Louis-style pork ribs for $18.25 with the average entrée price around ten to eleven dollars. Happy hour at the Lone Spur Grill is from 4 to 6pm daily. The restaurant is open from 11am till 10pm Sunday thru Thursday and 11am till 11pm on Friday and Saturday. The bar is open Monday thru Saturday till 1:00pm and Sunday until 10:00pm. They are located at 11032 Cedar Lake Road in Minnetonka and can be reached at 952-540-0181.
