Original Pancake House Eden Prairie

Who Doesn’t Love Pancakes?

I don’t know if pancakes are an American invention or not but they sure feel as American as apple pie when you’ve got a steaming stack in front of you. Butter melting and running down the sides; syrup pooling around the edges of the plate. And maybe a side of crispy bacon or chewy sausage, or golden hash browns slathered in butter. And how about a cup of specially-blended coffee with that?

Yep, I’m going to assume I have your attention now. They sure got mine at the Original Pancake House in Eden Prairie. It wasn’t enough that I interviewed them for the story. They had to feed me. Did you know they have their bacon special cut for them at Jones Farm in Wisconsin? Did you know you can buy their specially blended coffee at the restaurant in one pound bags because it’s so popular? And did you know that some people go there in the winter because it’s the only place they can get fresh berries out of season?

Yep, lots to love at Original Pancake House. Of course they’re famous for their selection of pancakes. Including the legendary Apple Soufflé pancake which they graciously fed me while I was there. Oh my goodness, by the time I finished that and the bacon I couldn’t have cared less about dessert. I’d already had it. And they have crepes ($6), waffles ($6), soufflé omelets ($9.25), and the usual side suspects.

So, yes, they have a lot more than just pancakes. In fact, they have a lot more than just breakfast. They also have a fine lunch menu with everything from ($6.50) burgers and ($8.75) Philly Roast Beef sandwiches to a ($8.50) Fruit & Salad Plate or an ($8.50) Antipasto Garbage Salad.

The restaurant is contemporary but cozy with plenty of seating and great service. They are located at 549 Prairie Center Drive in Eden Prairie. Hours: Sunday — Saturday 7:00 am – 3:00 pm
