Scottish Ambiance—American Cuisine
At New Girvan Grille Restaurant by Lancer Catering

Girvan Grille, a new restaurant located at Edinburgh USA in Brooklyn Park, complements the Scottish heritage of the elegant Clubhouse while offering an eclectic American cuisine. 

Girvan Grille is the first entry into the restaurant business by Lancer Catering, one of the Twin Cities largest catering companies most well-known for its venues at Edinburgh USA, Science Museum of Minnesota, Minnesota Zoo and Como Park Zoo and Conservatory. Lancer Catering, with more than 15 years experience providing a variety of cuisine styles and creative entrees to catering customers, has extended its culinary excellence to menu entrees at Girvan Grille.

Executive Chef Jim Malinowski introduces an eclectic menu that puts a new twist on some familiar favorites to create a unique taste experience. “We serve our Mahogany Braised Pork with two potato hash and sautéed market greens for a rich, hearty taste sensation,” said Malinowski. The Seared Tuna Starter comes with a Caribbean twist, jerk spiced and served on a mango avocado salad with ginger threads. A lunch favorite is the spicy pan fried Zen Noodles served with Asian vegetables. The Zen Noodles also complement the Cedar Planked Salmon on the dinner menu.
“Our house-smoked meats and wood roasted chicken also differentiates our entrees from the run-of-the-mill,” adds Malinowski. Other popular choices are the Horseradish Crusted Filet Mignon; Wok and Roll Chicken Salad, a seared chicken with spicy peanut sauce; Lodge Walleye; and, Macadamia Crusted Chicken. The menu includes a complete selection of choice steaks, chops and seafood. Not to be overlooked is the dessert menu—the Trifecta, a sampling of Ginger Mousse, Dulche de Leches Brownies and Chai Tea Ice Cream; Bread Pudding; and, Seven Layer Chocolate Sin—all made by Girvan Grille’s Pastry Chef.

The new Girvan Grille restaurant overlooks the beautiful championship golf course in Brooklyn Park. The rich new ambiance and magnificent view of the golf course sets the scene for casual dining. “We have a menu with an abundant variety of entrees that appeal to all palates,” said Jon Fehrmann, restaurant manager for Girvan Grille. “We use fresh ingredients and made from scratch sauces, dressing, and desserts that guarantee an exceptional experience,” Fehrmann said. Girvan Grille sources fresh fruits and vegetables locally, and fish and seafood from sustainable sources.

The name and inspiration for the restaurant’s relaxed atmosphere comes from Girvan, Scotland, a picturesque village on the North Sea renowned for its hospitality as well as local cuisine. 

Lancer Catering

Lancer Catering is owned by company founders and business partners since 1979, Glenn Baron and Steve Craver. In addition to managing the full-service restaurant at Edinburgh USA, Lancer also provides complete catering and event management at the Clubhouse. More than 800 meetings, banquets, golf outings and weddings took place at the Scottish manor overlooking the championship golf course in Brooklyn Park this past year.  The golf course and pro shop at Edinburgh are managed by the City of Brooklyn Park and golf pro Don Berry.
